This will be our first class in this location. Some may call this a Grand Opening! …They would be correct. We are operating out of the 25th ID Combatives Gym on Schofield Barracks, HI (GOOGLE MAP). Soar Tang Soo Do is a sponsored Army Chapel Program for Soldiers and Families. We will host classes twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 18:00-19:00. Here is our FLYER to share with others.
Each we we focus on one of four primary areas of training. This week is Hyung Week. Tang Soo Do is a traditional martial art, therefore we are a forms-based martial art system. Our forms are called hyung (형 or 형태). From our hyungs (or forms) we learn all the basics of Tang Soo Do. In the gif, we can see an example from Pyung Ahn Cho Dan. From the hyung, We learn kinesthetic awareness (how long our arms and legs are). We learn how to move our body weight and where our center of gravity is located. The hyung teaches patience, diligence, and dedication. The goal this week is to learn the shape and weight of our basic stances:
