From our hyungs (or forms) we learn all the basics of Tang Soo Do. We learn kinesthetic awareness (how long our arms and legs are). We learn how to move our body weight and where our center of gravity is located. The goal this week is to move as smoothly as possible (Hint: keep your knees “soft” and your head on the same horizontal plane). From the hyungs, we also learn patience, diligence, and dedication.
We will begin with the Saju Jirugi (four directional punch) and Se Kye Hyung Il Bu/Ee Bu. Then we will practice some line drills followed by a few partner drills. We also need to introduce the looping drill and falling/rolling in anticipation of next wee’s training.
NOTE: Our Spring Test will be Saturday, March 26 with the written test on Wednesday, March 16 during class. Don’t forget to review your study sheets; we will NOT go over these in detail during class. Next month, February, we will begin “striping” individuals in preparation for the test.
