The third attitude of Tang Soo Do is “All out Effort.” Tang Soo Do takes hard work and practice to achieve the goal of black belt and then master. Vince Lombardi Jr. said,
The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Work is the key to success, and hard work can help you accomplish anything.

I recently watched a wonderful movie titled “Greater.” It’s based on the true story of Brandon Burlsworth who dreamed of playing football for the University of Arkansas. Although Brandon received an invitation to visit the University, he did not get a scholarship to become an Arkansas Razorback as an offensive guard. Brandon remained dauntless. He was determined to join the team as a walk-on. Offensive line coach, Mike Bender, did not believe Brandon would make the team, due to Brandon not being large enough for a Division–I college lineman. The sight of him was not lost on other players who made fun of him relentlessly.
With hard work, Brandon put on the muscle and eventually proved himself on the field, changing everyone’s opinion of him. In doing so, he also inspired the team to near greatness in his senior year, all by working and practicing hard. Brandon gave his all out effort – every day. In the end, Brandon graduated in 1998 from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. in business administration. The following year, he completed an MBA. He was the first Razorback football player to complete a Master’s degree before playing in his final game, the 1999 Citrus Bowl. During the 1999 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected Brandon with the 63rd pick in the third round.
Brandon had nothing going for him except hard work and support from those who loved him (most of the time). He was a devoted follower of Jesus, and he desired every aspect of his life to reflect His love for God – even football.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:23–24,
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24
So whether you are studying, trying to be a football player, or to become a master in Tang Soo Do, give your all out effort knowing that everything you do should be to bring glory to Christ Jesus our Lord.
